Mrs. Shirley W. Curry was elected to Tuskegee’s City Council in 2016, representing District 3. Mrs. Curry is a community leader and volunteer. Her involvement included her service in organizations that are educational, civic, and social. She has served or is currently serving as Chair, Macon County Democratic Conference, Secretary, Macon County Democratic Executive Committee, Member, Alabama Democratic Conference, Member, Friends of the Library, Past Coordinator, Macon County Girl Scouts, Youth Coordinator, NAACP, Member, Tuskegee Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee, and Member, Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
Curry is a graduate of Tuskegee University where she received the B.S. and M.Ed degrees. She is a graduate of the UBT Academy. Her work experience includes Professional Counselor, Retired Testing Officer and GED Examiner, and has worked as a Substitute Teacher in the Macon County School System. She believes that her leadership, volunteerism, professional experience and training have provided her with an abundance of skills that will be of tremendous help in her role of Council Member.
Mrs. Curry is married to Luther Curry and they have three children: Luther II, Bryan, and Misti-Dawn and two grandchildren: Jazmine and Joshawuh.
