About Us

The City of Tuskegee Buildings, Codes and Inspections Department provides for the safety of the public through the enforcement of the International Building Codes. The Buildings, Codes and Inspections Division is located on the second floor of the Charles G. Gomillion Building.

This department issues permits for building, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work and signage to be performed within the city. Inspections are performed on all construction within the City of Tuskegee to determine compliance with the applicable codes. This department also assists in planning and zoning matters, including plan reviews, setbacks, property lines, easements, annexations, etc. The following is a list of some of the specific responsibilities of the Buildings, Codes and Inspections Division:

  • Zoning
  • Perform field inspections to determine compliance with applicable codes
  • Inspect work performed to determine compliance with the applicable codes.
  • Issues and tracks permits for building, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work and signage to be performed within the city limits of Tuskegee.
  • Provides information regarding re-zoning of property.
